Enable Backup and Restore

Ensure no contact or persona loss across devices.

This requires premium features and a subscription to access. You can read how the feature works here.

If you want to maintain all your contacts and be able to recover like nothing happened, this is the solution for you. Backups are maintained end to end encrypted with a key bound to your core identity, meaning your identity is the only one that can restore it. This key is created when you create your identity or restore your identity and automatically availalble. You can enable this feature at any time.

To backup you have a few options. You can manually backup by going to Settings -> Backup & Restore and click "Backup Now". This will perform a point in time backup and data will be available from that point.

Your second option is enable automatic backups. This will monitor the local data respository and automatically trigger backups in the background. This will trigger when a contact or persona changes.

Using automatic backups is the recommended configuration as it will keep you up to date all the time.

If you need to restore contacts for any reason you can go into Settings -> Backup and Recovery and click Restore from Backup. This will restore your last backup.
